On August 4, 2021, Brookfield White Pine Hydro, LLC’s (BWPH) filed a notice of intent and a pre-application document (NOI/PAD) for a new license for the Lewiston Falls Hydroelectric Project FERC No. 2302. The information presented in the Lewiston Falls Project PAD provides parties interested in this relicensing the information necessary to review existing information about Project resources; identify issues and related information needs; develop study requests and study plans; and to prepare documents analyzing BWPH’s Application for New License (License Application) that will be filed with FERC on or before August 30, 2024. The PAD is also a precursor to the environmental analysis section of the License Application and eventually to FERC’s Scoping Documents and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) or Environmental Assessment (EA) under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). On November 4, 2021, BWPH held Joint Agency and Public Participation Meetings. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the meeting was held virtually, instead of holding an in-person meeting in accordance with FERC’s TLP regulations. The purpose of the Joint Meeting is to provide an overview of the Lewiston Falls Hydroelectric Project, review the FERC relicensing process, provide an overview of the Pre-Application Document (PAD), and provide an opportunity for initial questions and comments regarding relicensing and Project resources. An outline of the agenda is provided below.
